Missions
We're committed to being the hands and feet of Christ within our community and world. As Christ commanded in Matthew 28:19, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." At Simpsonwood UMC, we believe that as a Christ-centered church, moving outside the walls of our sanctuary is a non-negotiable. We seek to make Christ known through local and international missions.
Summer Mission Opportunities
Honduras Mission Trip Supplies-
A mission team will be serving in the Agalta Valley of Honduras from June 22-29. Our team will help with construction, Vacation Bible School, medical and dental services, and pastoral care. Help support the team by donating items to be used in Honduras. A donation sheet is available in the main office of the church or by contacting Linda Romarion.
Safehouse Outreach- Serve dinner and hear an inspirational message with homeless men and women in downtown Atlanta. Simpsonwood serves at Safehouse Outreach the first Thursday of every month (June 6, July 4, and August 1). Volunteers are needed to help prepare the meal, deliver the meal, share a message, and fellowship with the clients at Safehouse. For more information, please contact Scott Adams.
HOPE Ministry - Meet monthly at Cici's Pizza on the second Thursday of the month to share a meal with families in need of assistance. Mentor families from Simpsonwood provide support and encouragement to help families navigate difficult situations. During the summer, volunteers from Simpsonwood will help provide lunches to families who receive free lunches through the school system during the school year. For more information, please contact Jann Roeder.
MUST Ministries- From July 15-19, volunteers will provide lunch to approximately 150 children who normally receive subsidized lunches during the school year. We need lunch bag decorators, preparers for sandwiches and other lunch items, servers, devotional leaders, and activity/game leaders. For more information, contact Bryan Coats.
Norcross Cooperative Ministries - We plan on helping care for children whose parents are waiting in line for food and clothing by conducting a Vacation Bible School. For more information, please contact Jim Sampson.
RECHRIST Ministries- Volunteers are needed to help with the after school program during the 2013-14 school year beginning in August. For more information, please contact Johnny Johns or Charles Battle.
