2018 Christmas Cantata – December 16, 2018

Back by popular demand – NIGHT OF THE FATHER’S LOVE – ‘The Awe and Mystery of God With Us’

Choir and audience favorites from this cantata include “Angels are Making their Rounds” and “Fall on Your Knees” This year we are adding hand bells to the mix along with a small instrumental ensemble.

NIGHT OF THE FATHER’S LOVE was composed by Pepper Choplin, a full-time composer, conductor and humorist. He has a reputation as one of the most creative composers in church music today. With a diverse musical background, Choplin incorporates varied styles such as folk, Gospel, classical, and jazz. His published works includes over 300 anthems for church and school choir with 20 church cantatas and two books of piano arrangements

Beyond his choral music, Choplin has produced two humorous CDs and an inspirational recording. In his solo concerts, he moves audiences with his powerful ballads and his hilarious humor.

Currently, he attends Greystone Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he served as music minister for twenty-two years. These days Pepper stays busy traveling around the country doing Composer Weekends, where he works with regular church choirs and then directs them in morning worship or afternoon concerts. With him conducting, Pepper’s music has been performed by choirs and orchestra in Carnegie Hall.
