During the Lenten season, staff and church leaders will share a daily devotional. Please join us on the journey.

“Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

1 Corinthians 13:12

Kathy Harper – Church member

As Holy Week quickly approaches, we reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross to sacrifice himself on our behalf. Because of the precious gift of salvation, we are assured of our place in Heaven for eternity when we have committed our lives to faith in Jesus Christ. What a blessed assurance that we will one day see and know Jesus face to face! Our love and gratitude for Jesus should be so strong that we long for that encounter. Like a deer pants for water, so should we desire to see our Savior.

In his book God Is the Gospel, John Piper asks a critical question that helps us examine our level of love and devotion to Christ…

“If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all the physical pleasures you ever tasted, and no human conflict or any natural disasters, could you be satisfied with heaven, if Christ was not there?”

…Our answer to this question should be a resounding “No.” For me, the greatest blessing of Heaven will be to dwell in the presence of Jesus and to thank Him for His loving sacrifice that granted me, a sinner, the gift of seeing Him face-to-face!

Prayer: Dear Jesus,We praise you and offer you glory and honor for the great love you demonstrated in dying for us. We praise you for the wonderful promise that we will dwell in your presence forever! Your Name,  Amen
