During the Lenten season, staff and church leaders will share a daily devotional. Please join us on the journey.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives:
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! – Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
Fruit of the Spirit
Sometimes we think our emotions and feelings are out of our control. We make excuses for why we ‘are not in our comfort zone’ or why ‘patience is just not my gift’. We make excuses to behave unkindly.
Anytime something uncomfortable is going on in our lives all we really need to do is to ask our Heavenly Father (in Jesus’ NAME) to send the Holy Spirit to help us exhibit the fruit that we already have. As we use each of these fruits the Holy Spirit rewards us by making it easier and easier to live by them….ALL OF THEM!!
I have to fight very hard against my own desires to have control over my emotions and feelings. And it is a daily battle for all of us. But just remember, the fruits are always there for you to use…ALL OF THEM!!
Dearest Heavenly Father, please help me to show love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. This is the hardest part of my spiritual journey with You, but absolutely the most important. Send the Holy Spirit to remind me of the fruits inside of me as I need them. In the precious Name of Jesus. Amen.
