Students in Service
During the month of September we will be highlighting how students of Simpsonwood spent time in service over the summer.
Over the summer I went on the Simpsonwood UMC Youth Misson Trip. I have been going on these trips for four years now and I look forward to them every year.
However this year was especially important to me in the way that I attended it with my entire immediate family being my Mother, Father, Sister and Bother. This allowed me to grow closer with my family in a whole new way outside of the house while also growing my relationship with God. It also helped me to always remember that even though my blood relatives were there, I was with another family entirely, my church family.
With this hardworking group of people, my group and I were able to help the staff of Full Spectrum Farms (a camp dedicated to helping individuals with Autism) Build a second story floor in their barn to be used as a pottery room. Even though it was hot and there was a lot of work, I never heard people complain or lose their spirit. Every person there stayed positive and showed God’s love. I was especially grateful to be able to meet some of the people who attend Full Spectrum Farms and to learn their stories.
Every year the Mission trip helps me to grow in my faith and help others in the process, as well as seeing my friends and family grow spiritually.
