Summer Women’s Bible Study

You are probably wondering, will there even be a Bible study this summer?  How could we possibly do this?

Well, we have been doing some research and we think we have it figured out!  Like many things right now, the Summer Women’s Bible Study at SUMC will look a little different this year, but we still think it will be a rich experience and a precious time in God’s word with some good women.

So we are planning to study No Other Gods: The Unrivaled Pursuit of Christ by Kelly Minter.  “In this 8-session, revised and expanded study, learn to identify the functional gods you may be unknowingly serving and the lies they tell. As you dethrone your modern-day idols you’ll be set free for the deeper, more abundant life Jesus came to give you—discovering that Jesus can do what no other god can.”

We are planning to get started on Tuesday, June 2nd, and meet June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and July 7, 14, and 21.

We are going to ask participants to order their own study guides.  They are available from LifeWay here, or from Amazon here.

Unlike in past years, where we watched the videos as a group, we will be watching the videos on our own time before we meet.  The church will order a “Group Use Video Bundle” and that will give us individual access codes for each group member.  (Don’t worry, we will give you a schedule of what to watch when. The videos for this study run about 30 minutes.)

Our meetings will happen virtually, using the Zoom platform.  Because we will not also be watching the videos together, our discussions will probably last around an hour.

So, what do we need from you?

1. Please email Zanese Duncan or Amy Coffee and let them know you are interested.

2. Also, let them know which session you are interested in attending.  Right now we are planning to hold a morning session at 10:30 a.m. and an evening session at 7:30 p.m.

3. Order your book!

Once we know who is interested, we will send out information about watching the videos and the Zoom meetings.  Plan on gathering on June 2nd for a Zoom get together to “practice” meeting together. (You won’t need to have your book for the June 2nd gathering, but we will be completing part of the study before our June 9th meeting.)

Hope to “see” you soon!

Take care –
